

Anna Mary Reed age 89, transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, December 30, 2016. Anna Mary was born in Wellsburg, West Virginia. In college, she met the love of her life, James A. Reed, married and started a beautiful family who will continue to love her unconditionally. She then moved to Florida with her family in 1955. Anna Mary was known for her zest for life and her love of the Lord. She was a founding member of New Horizon United Methodist church where she was an integral part of developing and opening the Learning Center at New Horizon. She also began a ladies craft group on Tuesday mornings and ran a small group Bible study for many years. Along with her volunteer and community tributes, Anna Mary worked as an elementary school teacher for the Miami-Dade County School System for 33 years. She had a love for children, travel, golf, and spending time with her family and friends.
Anna Mary was the loving wife of the late James Reed for 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Warden and Lucille Weaver. She was also proceeded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Irene Weaver.
Survived by her brother and sister-in law Wenard and Helen Weaver, son and daughter-in-law James and Barbara Reed; Daughter and son-in-law Mary and Edward DeBarros; and son and daughter-in-law David and Laura Reed; nine grandchildren, James Reed, Cynthia Wadsworth, Michael Reed, Edward DeBarros, Vincent DeBarros, Todd Ketchum, Jeffrey DeBarros, Melissa Reed, Jessica Reed, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Services will be held at New Horizon United Methodist Church, 5741 S. Flamingo Road, Southwest Ranches, on Friday, January 6, 2017. The viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00AM. The service will begin at 11:00AM. A private family interment will follow. The family has requested donations be made in her honor to New Horizon United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
