Ardell was born on April 13, 1948, in Passaic, New Jersey, to William and Joyce Perini. She grew up with a strong sense of family, a guiding principle she carried throughout her life.
She was the devoted wife of Paul Metzger, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Ardell and Paul met as members of the same graduating class at Kent State University. Paul was the love of Ardell’s life and her true partner.
After raising their daughter and son in Northern Virigina, Ardell and Paul eventually retired to Weston, Florida. There, Ardell was able to spend more time with her family, including her cherished mother who lived to be 101 years old. She also enjoyed regular lunches with her sister and cousins and looked forward to hosting Sunday dinners whenever her children, who were a continuous source of pride for her, could join. In later years, Ardell found immense happiness in being a grandmother, whether cheering at soccer games, watching movies, going on family cruises, or simply sharing
stories over the phone.
Ardell is survived by her husband, Paul, children, Lynn Coulter (Mark) and Michael Metzger (Bianca), grandchildren, Evan, Mason, and Isabella, and sister, Janice Sandri.
She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the genuine care she showed to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
