Avanelle Corinthia Colaire, fondly known as Avie, age 71, passed away on the evening of Friday, March 17, 2017 at Palmetto Hospital in Hialeah, Florida. She was born on September 27th, 1945 in Roseau Dominica to Edward Shillingford and Getha LaRocque. She is a graduate of Convent High School. She was Dominca's Carnival Queen in 1963. She married Arthur Colaire on January 19, 1965 and was a hairdresser. After relocating to New York City, she then became a fleet service clerk for American Airlines. Avanelle and her family moved to Miami, Florida in 1996 and she later retired from American Airlines in 2007. She loved her family, friends and neighbors, she also loved trying new recipes. She made such an impact on the lives of the people she came across. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Arthur Colaire, her daughter Arlene Lazare, her son Dwayne Colaire, son in law Yuri Lazare, and daughter in law Susan Colaire, her brothers Edwin and Reuben, sisters Yoeville and Myrtle. Grandchildren Kevin, Devin and Blake. Friends and family are invited to the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood FL, 30024 on March 25, 2017. Viewing is from 2pm to 5pm. Service is at 5pm, followed by a repast immediately after at 6pm.
