Jack was born in Louisville, KY to Bernard John and Anne Bauer Osterholt on April 9, 1949. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from University of Louisville and later with a Masters in City Planning from Georgia Institute of Technology. After graduation, Jack worked in the Office of Planning and Budgeting for Governor Bob Graham until 1986. Following this, Jack had a career in South Florida government and consulting. His last role was as Deputy Mayor for Miami Dade County.
Jack is survived by his wife Lynn Hawke, his son John Perrin Osterholt and his stepson Ryan Hawke.
