She was born on July 4, 1932, in Callaboro, Cuba. On August 12, 1951, she married Rodoberto Gonzalez, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Millie Orr; son-in-law, Jack Orr; three grandchildren; one grand daughter-in-law; one grand son-in-law; and five great-grandchildren.
During her early years in Cuba, Berta worked various jobs to support her family. In 1956, when her daughter Millie was three years old, they moved to Miami, Florida.
In 1962, Berta became a U.S. citizen. She initially worked in a clothing factory before attending cosmetology school and becoming a licensed beautician. She went on to work as a hairstylist in a local beauty salon for over 20 years.
