Mrs. Betty Geraldine Lowe

Betty was educated in the public school in Green Turtle Cay after which she worked in her father’s general store before moving to the city of Nassau at the age of 18 where her older brother Carl had her join him to work as a bookkeeper at Bay Street Garage. After that she worked in her husband’s family business, Bahamas Grocery, later Lowe’s Pipe & Steel Co. She worked some after the birth of her first child and then became a full-time mother and homemaker.

Betty met her husband, Emory, after moving to Nassau and they were married in 1953. They moved from the Bahamas to Hollywood, Florida in 1974 and then to Boca Raton in 2016. They were married for 65 years when he pre-deceased her in 2018. She was very close with his family who took her in as a daughter and sister and they all remained close throughout the years.

Betty grew up in a Christian home and personally accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 14. She faithfully served Jesus throughout her life in the Bahamas and later in Florida as a Sunday school teacher, Awana leader, nursery worker and in hospitality.

Betty is survived by three sons, Colin, Mark and Timothy; three daughters-in-law, Nancy, Bonnie and Myriam; six grandchildren, Candice Masi, Christie Lawrence, Megan Lowe, Brian Lowe, Breanna Lowe and Juliana Lowe; two grandsons-in-law Philip Masi and Justin Lawrence; five great grandchildren, Treyton Masi, Taylor Lawrence, Avianna Masi, Parker Lawrence and Braxton Masi; one sister, Iris Powers; two sisters-in-law, Joy Jossi and Grace Pinder; one brother-in-law, John Woods, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Emory; three siblings, Merlee Key, Carl Lowe and Elayne Woods; five sisters-in-law, Minnie Lowe, Natalie Saunders, Margaret Jannsen, Jettie Lowe and Sadie Lowe; eight brothers-in-law, Gerald Key, Joe Powers, Donald Saunders, Gilbert Lowe, Lowell Lowe, Jack Jannsen, Al Jossi, and Lyman Pinder.
