Betty W Sheffey

Betty M. Sheffey was born on January 15, 1948, in Berckeley, West Virginia. A woman of intelligence, dedication, faith, and generosity, Betty lived a life marked by service to her country, devotion to her church, and love for her family and friends.

Betty valued education and earned a master’s degree in sociology. She went on to enjoy a distinguished career of more than 30 years with the federal government, serving in several capacities throughout her tenure. Her final assignment was with the federal court, where she worked as a budget analyst until her retirement. Betty approached her work with professionalism, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

A devoted Episcopalian, Betty’s faith was an important part of her life. While living in New Jersey, she faithfully served her church as a Senior Lay Reader. After relocating to Florida, she became connected with Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church through Owen Bachor, a longtime acquaintance. Betty soon became a beloved and active member of the Holy Sacrament family.

She was especially well known for the wonderful cakes she lovingly prepared for church gatherings. Whenever members entered the parish hall, they eagerly searched for “Miss Betty’s cakes,” knowing that no substitute could compare. Her cakes were more than a special treat—they were an expression of her generosity, warmth, and love for her church community.

Betty was the youngest of three daughters. Her two older sisters preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory the love of her life, Adolph Groucher; her only child, Louis R. Sheffey; her niece, Lillian; her nephew, Maurice Foster; and a host of extended family members, church family, and dear friends.

Betty will be remembered for her strong faith, her dedication to public service, her kind and giving spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a blessing, her memory will remain a treasure, and her presence will be deeply missed.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace and rise in glory.

Visitation will be held at Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church, 2801 N University Dr, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024, US, on August 1, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Funeral Service will take place at Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church, 2801 N University Dr, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024, US, on August 1, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
