Today we say farewell to a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Carl Rudolph Payne was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on February 27, 1931, and was adopted at birth by Lionel and Florence Payne
He was raised in Kingston by his parents and after graduating from Kingston Technical School he went to work as an audit clerk at N. A. D. Tappin, and later joined the staff of John Crook Limited, starting out as an audit clerk and rising to the position of Administrative Manager of the Service Department when he left that company.
Carl met and married Bessie Hamilton, in 1951 and that union produced 3 daughters, Desiree', Donna and Andrea, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. After that marriage ended Carl met and married Norma Brown in 1967, with whom he had 3 children, Lisa, Deanne and Douglas, and 4 grand children, Reanna, Celeste, Noah and Sydney.
Carl and his family migrated to Florida in 1979, in search of a better opportunity for his young family. He worked with Orkin Exterminating Company as a Termite Inspector from 1979 until his retirement in 1996. He was an excellent sales person, and used his quiet demeanor and gift of persuasion to become one of Orkin's top sales men. During his tenure there he became a member of the President's Club on 3 occasions and was rewarded with many trips and awards for his accomplishments. 3 years after he retired from Orkin, he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease. Carl dealt with this health challenge with dignity and on March 9, 2016, without and fuss or struggle, went home to be with his Lord. He has closed this final chapter of his life on earth, but sweet memories of him will always be remembered by his wife of 49 years, his children and grand children.
Carl loved his family deeply, and was a devoted family man, who worked hard to provide for his family and to make life easier for them.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grand children, brother Clinton Marshall, a nephew, 4 nieces and a host of other loving relatives and friends. We will miss him dearly.
