Carmen was born on August 14th, 1960 in Matanzas, Cuba. She graduated from Abraham Clark High School.
Carmen was married to Miguel Angel Sotolongo on September 30th, 1984; they were married for 29 years.
Carmen worked in different capacities for the School Board of Broward County for 24 years. She enjoyed working with children, being amongst family, and overall being a mother. She was an avid member and volunteered for the Mended Hearts chapter at Memorial Regional Hospital.
Carmen is survived by Ramon Emilio Chavez, Carmen Basilisa Chavez, Gerardo Emilio Chavez, Niurca Jensen, Jaselyn Sotolongo, Natalie Sotolongo, Melanie Chavez, Gerardo jr. Chavez, Jayline Chavez, Jake Jensen, and Jason Jensen.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fred Hunter's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood, Florida on August 18, 2018 at 10:00am. Family and Friends Gathering will be held at 8636 NW 83rd Street, Tamarac, Florida 33321 immediately after the mass at Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood, Florida.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the family and sent to 620 Arizona Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312.
