Catherine Berti Lupari, loving mother of three children, four grandchildren and several grand dogs and cats passed away at the age of 96 on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Catherine was born in Greenwich, Connecticut on June 15, 1924 to Amabile and Torquato Berti. She worked in Manhattan as a Machine Operator sewing children’s clothes and also drove a forklift on the army base in New York during World War II. She was known fondly as the “The Best Dressed Gal in Staten Island.” She met the love of her life, Vincent Lupari, in Staten Island and married in 1954. That same year they moved to Miami, where they had three daughters. Although Catherine had many careers, the job she loved the most and performed to perfection was that of mother and wife. Catherine was a devout Catholic and devoted to Jesus and Mary. After Vincent passed away in 2003 she became a Eucharistic Minister (EM) at St David Catholic Church in Davie. She loved being an EM and said she felt closest to God when distributing holy communion. Catherine loved being around her family and friends, attending the Little Rock Bible Study at St David, Young at Heart at St Bonaventure, and also volunteering for many years with the children’s program at Hope Outreach Center in Davie. Catherine was always busy socially and loved to play games. Her children used to joke that she had a fuller social life than theirs! Up until her recent illness, she was climbing three flights of stairs to her condo in Davie and still drove. She is survived by Cathy (Dan) Gnagi, Linda (Tony) Capone, Lisa Vin Lupari, and 4 grandchildren, Chris Gnagi, Kimmy Gnagi, Vinny Capone, and Michael Capone. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Catherine’s name to Hope Outreach Center, 4700 SW 64th Ave., Suite A, Davie, FL 33314. Online donations can be made here:
