

Celeste Agatha Lambert, 91, of North Miami, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2019. Celeste was a wonderful woman that lived a full life. She was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. “Nana”, as she liked to be called by her grandchildren, “C”, as she was called by her brothers and sisters, was an amazing mom, wife, daughter, aunt, and friend.
Celeste was born in Guyana, South America on February 13,1928. She graduated from Saint Joseph’s High School in Guyana. Celeste relocated to the United States and continued her education, receiving a Bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Hunter College in New York. Celeste worked as a Nurse and later as a Nurse Supervisor for Holy Cross Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Queens, New York. She made the move with her family in April of 1978 to North Miami, Florida to take on the Director of Nursing responsibilities for Bon Secures – Villa Maria Nursing Home, until her retirement. During retirement she taught Nursing at the University of Miami and provided financial guidance with Primerica. Celeste enjoyed traveling and spending time with her siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Celeste married Lloyd George Lambert in 1954, they were married 26 years until his passing in 1980. Celeste is survived by, brothers Roy Jackson, Fred Jackson and James Jackson. Sisters Sheila Telford, Merle Greene, Noreen Sanmogan, Anetha Jackson. Sons Lloyd (Angela) and Les (Michele), grandchildren, Fiona, Donnell (Dwaynet), Angela, Karissa, Kelsey, Malik, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews], and friends.
Celeste is preceded in death by husband Lloyd, son Berkeley, sister Yvonne Shapre, brother Jerry Jackson, brother Noel Jackson, sister Irene Jackson, and sister Laura Alderman.
Celeste loved the Lord. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Sickle Cell Community Consortium.
