

Charles "Charlie" Peter Fontana, of Hollywood, Florida passed away at his son Anthony's home in Plantation on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He died one day shy of his 71st birthday.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 9, 1946, the son of Philip and Concetta (Vernaci) Fontana, Charles was raised and educated in Brooklyn graduating from New Utrecht High School. Following in his father's footsteps, Charlie drove and operated the King Kong Amusement Ride and later owned and operated Brighton Car Services.
In 1973, he moved to Hollywood, Florida where he became owner and operator of Wiz Video. His love of all animals, Charlie was a professional horse trainer as well as racing them. He was an avid football fan.
Survived by his devoted sister, Josephine Geraci, three loving children, Anthony, Lisa and Charles Fontana, sister in law, Josephine Pisano Spears, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Louise Pisano Fontana in 2004, son, Philip Fontana in 2002, daughter, Gina Fontana in 2014, daughter, Donna Fontana in 2015 and sister Antoinette Rotunno in 1969.
Visitation on Tuesday, March 14th from 1:00 ~ 5:00 P.M. at Fred Hunter Memorial Garden Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida. A Catholic prayer service will begin at 4:30 at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
Interment will be private.
