Charles Roland Hodges, 88, passed away the evening of March 11, 2016 at Holy Cross Hospital surrounded by his family in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on October 2, 1927 to Robert Toomes and Robbie Nelle (Hall) Hodges. Roland was a four year letterman in football at Duke University, a member of First United Methodist Church of Ft. Lauderdale, Lauderdale Yacht Club, and Ft. Lauderdale Board of Realtors.
He was considered by many in Ft. Lauderdale to be a pioneer in real estate with 66 years of experience in the industry, helping to transform the region from a small community to a bustling city. An avid sports fan, Roland could often be found on many of the local courses playing golf with his sons and friends. Off the course, he also found great pleasure in restoring antique cars. The impact he made on his family and friends will continue his legacy and his spirit will live on through them; their world is a better place for him having shared it with them.
