Charles "Chuck" Eugene Littlefield, 77, of Davie, passed away on March 27, 2017. He was a long-time resident of South Florida, arriving as an infant in 1939. Charles graduated from Miami Technical High School, where he met the love of his life, Carole Jean Weatherbee. They were married in 1959 and raised two beautiful children, Alan and Suzanne. In 1971, Charles and Carole became business partners when they founded Chuck's Welding Service in Ft. Lauderdale. His skills as a businessman and craftsman helped them quickly develop a reputation for "doing right by the customer" and quality work that was widely recognized and well respected across the petroleum industry. They retired in April 2015, giving them more time to enjoy hobbies, family, and each other.
In his youth, Charles enjoyed playing sports, particularly organized basketball, which he continued to play for several years after he graduated high school. He enjoyed a lifetime of freshwater and saltwater fishing, never missing the opportunity to go with family and friends. In later years, Charles enjoyed building street rods, where he continued his passion for perfection and craftsmanship. His restored 1956 Chevy Pickup was selected for the cover of Classic Chevy World magazine, which is reserved for only the highest quality restorations. If he wasn't at his hot rod shop, Charles spent quiet afternoons outside, reading his newspaper or listening to sports while Carole was working on one of her many crafts. Charles and Carole were partners in every aspect of life, always sharing a spoken and unspoken love and passion for each other.
As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Charles' love for children could be seen with every generation. He never tired of listening to their stories or joining them when they played. And there was never any doubt that he loved and was very proud of all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carole; son, Alan Littlefield (Maria); daughter, Suzanne Billow (Mark); grandchildren, Michael Billow, Brian Billow (Sara), USAF Capt. Jacqueline Davis (USAF Capt. Brian Davis) and USAF Lt. Michelle Littlefield; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Matthew Billow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Clark and Ruth Littlefield, and his sister Janet Cabeza.
Visitation is 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Fred Hunter's University Drive Home, 2401 S. University Dr., Davie. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, also at the funeral home.
