Meyer, Charles E., age 92 of Ft. Lauderdale passed away August 31, 2011. Ed was born in Henderson, Ky, a grad of UK, and a WWII Naval officer serving aboard a troop carrier in the South Pacific. After the war, he and another WWII vet, started the Henderson airport, giving flying lessons. He also took over his father's Oldsmobile agency and ran that until 1959 when he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He and a partner opened an import gift shop and a travel agency that they operated for many years. Surviving Ed are a sister, Virginia Vincent, and a brother, Steve Meyer. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 PM at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 S. Fed. Hwy. A short service will be held at the same location on Tuesday at 10:30 AM followed by interment at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
