

Charles “Chuck” Eugene Smith, 82, of Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away on Friday January13, 2023.
There will be a Private Graveside Family Service on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 1pm. FuneralServices are being handled by Fred Hunters Funeral Home.
Charles was born in Sherman, West Virginia on April 1, 1940. He graduated from Freedom High School in 1958. He was aversatile athlete, played football, basketball and ran track. His claim to fame was he played football against Joe Namathand Mike Ditka.
He served in the United States Army from 1959-1962 stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He played on the basketball teamwhile in the Army. He graduated from Geneva College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in BeaverFalls, Pennsylvania on June 8,1971.
He was first married to Carol Krupa in 1963 and they raised 3 children. It’s always been said, ”Carol delivered the first 2and Chuck delivered the 3rd one.” He traveled to Colombia and brought her home from an orphanage at age 5.Chuck was married to Patricia “Tricia” Oliver-Smith on June 9th, 2007 but have been together since June 19th, 1993.Chuck was survived by wife Patricia “Tricia” Oliver-Smith, son Michael Smith (Penelope) daughters Cynthia Akers Gerber,Trinidad Smith, stepdaughters Carla Burtless and Christy Vermont (Marc) grandchildren Olivia Turnbull-Smith, ChristopherAkers, Claire Akers, Benjamin Akers, Isaac Smith-Lewis, Laila Vermont, Kenley Vermont. Nieces and nephews TroyFranklin Barton (Jennifer) , Lisette Barton, Natalie Barton Amores (Eleazar), Jason Wright, Richard Wright, Stepmom, RitaSmith, half brothers Keith Smith (Joni), Todd Smith (Julie)
Chuck was preceded in death by granddaughter Kendra Vermont, sister Edith Wright, brother William Wright, fatherCharles Leon Smith, mother Mabel Cline Wright
