

Charles Devese Sweeting, Sr. was a much beloved husband, father, brother, and son. On February 26, 1936 Charles was born to the late Olive Nixon and Gerald Sweeting. One day while walking through Vesey Street, Nassau Bahamas a young woman by the name of Leila caught his eye and the two were married on June 30, 1963. The union produced 4 beautiful children, Moira, Yvette, Charles, Jr., and Mickell. Leila preceded him in death. On September 10, 2014 after a short illness Charles received the call to return home.
Charles had a stellar career working in the food industry. He started his career as a waiter in Nassau and then later got a job in the cruise industry. He moved up the ladder into one of the top positions in the industry, Food and Beverage Manager. His career allowed him to travel to the Caribbean, South America and Europe.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Moira Sweeting-Miller, Yvette Sweeting, and Mickell Sweeting, and 1 son Charles Devese Sweeting, Jr. One son-in-law Harry Miller, 4 sisters, Cleopatra Nixon, Mizpah Higgins, Beverly Farquharson, and Paula Sweeting and 1 brother, Frank Sweeting and 1 sister-in-law Andrea Sweeting. He was preceded in death by Vernita Moxey, sister, James Sweeting, brother, and Ben Higgins, brother-in-law.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including, Dorette Sweeting and family, Yvonne Lockhart, Nerissa Lockhart-Saunders and family, Patricia McGregor and family, Rochelle Sears and family, Marcian Nixon and family, and Damian Nairn and family.
Other relatives and friends in Miami, Pembroke Pines, Nassau, and Harbor Island including Joseph and Pam Dawson, Michelle Raden and family, Sabrina Hill and family, Dahlia Taylor and family, Brian Wright, Ralph "Lawrence" Smith, Janet Bain, Mr. Frank Lightbourne and family, Ms. Conliffe and family and Ms. Outten and family.
