I completely agree with the honest picture that everyone painted of who Clarise truly was. I met her at church between 1982 and 1983, and we were involved in several youth activities together. She had such a joyful spirit and was always a pleasure to be around. I only learned of her passing yesterday, and my heartfelt condolences go out to her family during this difficult time.

What can I say about my cousine Clarise or “Ti Cla” as she is known by her family? Words cannot express what is truly only felt in the heart. Clarise was the essence of love, kindness and grace. She was an amazing human. I remember childhood sleepovers when we would stay up all night talking about our hopes and dreams. I remember reading the Bible and going to church together. I remember our shared love for Gospel music even as kids, listening to James Cleveland and singing those uplifting songs.
     We did not stay in touch as we should have when she moved to Florida which is one of my greatest regrets. For the past two years we kept in touch. When we talked about her illness, she would comfort ME whenever I tried to comfort her. You see, she had a true and special relationship with her God and had come to terms with and was at peace with whatever He chose to do in her life. Clarise taught me about love, joy, friendship and forgiveness.
     She left a legacy of love for all who knew and loved her. We are all forever changed by her presence. Although we mourn her passing, we know that it is only for a short time until we meet again in heaven. So, rest in eternal peace my sweet beloved cousine. Your beautiful spirit and memory will forever be in my heart 💜

What a beautiful soul Clarise was,the epitome of an earth angel, kind, loving,  thoughtful, caring, gentle, faithful and loving. I cherish the times we shared, laughed, loved and spent precious time we spent together.  She left a true legacy of generosity through her selfless giving to children in her belived Haiti through het non profit endeavors. She invested in their future. Clarise was my cousin. And, she was part of my family in a way I couldn't say I have seen often. She showed her love through her words, her presence, and her actions. I suddenly remember when Clarise when she helped me get physical therapy for an injury that I gained through my own recklessness. I wasn't expecting something like that from a cousin of mine or from anyone but she did. I got relief and I didn't have to worry about paying for treatment while I was receiving it. I don't what she sacrificed, but she showed me the love and sacrifice of God through her actions. 

I still remember her bringing some fried chicken, so we could eat together with my late father, when he was still recovering. And, she would come to talk to him and listen to him, like a daughter. They talked about the world, Jesus, and anything they could think of. I just want to thank God for placing her in my life and family's lives. I'm grateful that I was able to spend some time with her. I know that she is meeting with Jesus and my late father in heaven. I don't know what else to say, Thank you Jesus, for Clarise. And, I pray that You strengthen and hold all of her family up through this time, and mold their heart, spirits, and minds towards Your plans and purpose.

I want to thank everyone for your support; lending us a shoulder to lean on, and cry on. Though we’ve lost Clarise’s physical presence, I’ve found something deeply meaningful in the days since—her friends and colleagues, have become a part of our lives. In knowing and meeting so many of you, I feel as though Clarise has stitched you into the fabric of our family, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.

Today, I Honor My Beautiful Sister, Clarise

Clarise was a truly loving, kind, and generous person it’s no wonder she became a nurse. She was selfless in every way, always putting the needs of others before her own, even while quietly carrying her own burdens. Her strength was silent but powerful, and her compassion knew no bounds.

Her faith in God was unwavering, even during the most difficult moments in her own health journey, she never failed to make time for me. In the midst of my grief after losing my mom, it was her voice I heard on those unexpected phone calls reminding me that I was loved, that I wasn’t alone, and that with God on my side, I could make it through anything. 

I’ll never forget her laughter, it was contagious and full of life. Clarise loved to laugh. No matter how heavy the day, her joy had a way of lifting the spirit of everyone around her. She made me smile just by being herself, especially when we’d laugh over our crazy girl stories and inside jokes those unforgettable moments when we were all together vacationing in St. Martin, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica just enjoying our sisterhood. These are memories I will treasure for the rest of my life.

Our entire family is so special.  We have got to be the luckiest people in the world to have been so blessed to have you in our lives, Clarise.  How does the saying go? “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” But I knew. I always knew how special and beautiful you we’re.  And you still are. I remember the times you stood up for me when I was really young; the silly secrets and tears we shared; our deep heart-felt conversations, hugs and kisses, hellos and goodbyes–Are all the little things I loved and appreciated about us. The roads we traveled were often times rough, our bond tried and tested, but we always found our way back to each other. You’ve made a difference in so many lives, and because of you, I too, have learned to be the best person that I can be–Loving unapologetically.  Now that you’ve gone home to be with our Father, God in heaven, I feel like I’m drifting. I guess that’s all part of grieving. I can’t begin to put into words how much I miss you, Sis. I once told you that “I felt like God was preparing me for something that I was going to need all my strength for.” But I never imagined that it would be us losing you. So, now whenever, I go through one of my meltdowns, I would think back on what God had asked of me. Proverbs 3:5-6, says to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.” God, is my anchor. Losing you is painful beyond words, but I know we will get through this; we will meet again in heaven.  You will always carry you in my heart. You have truly been a blessing.  You championed me and so many others throughout the years. When I felt that I had no one to stand by my side, there you were. Whenever I felt invisible, you saw me. My heart breaks to know that I won’t ever hear you laugh at our silly jokes; your loving sisterly advise; us teasing you about your awful secretarial skills; but most of all just being able to spend time with you

Clarise was a radiant light in our lives—her smile warmed every room, and her heart welcomed all. She lived with grace, humility, and unwavering faith in the Lord. Though her illness took her physical presence, her spirit remains with us, a reminder of God’s love made visible through her life.

We take comfort knowing she is now resting in perfect peace, free from pain, and rejoicing in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Clarise, your faith inspired us, your kindness touched us, and your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.

If I had to choose a title to define my niece, I would say “Clarise, An Angel in Disguise.” Everything about her character, her demeanor, and her mannerism depicted selflessness, true love, kindness, obedience, and patience; just to name a few. In general, she genuinely cared for people. My niece Clarise, the individual for whom these traits are portrayed, manifests her perseverance and dedication throughout her lifetime. 
Sometimes our busy lives get in the way of really connecting to our own family members and we don’t make time to utilize the treasures in front of us. We think of putting it off for a more special occasion or moment, but sometimes the right moment never comes. The past few months have made me realize how much time I have missed out in her life. It is not intentional, but nonetheless, I’ve learned to cherish my niece for the profound qualities she instilled in many lives. She will always be a living testament in my heart and to those who know her.

Clarise was a radiant soul—beautiful both inside and out. Her smile could light up any room, and her presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone around her. She touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering generosity.

She was one of the most selfless people I have ever known. Clarise gave so much of herself—her time, her love, her heart—without ever expecting anything in return. She lived a life of service, always putting others before herself, and doing so with quiet strength and grace.

Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and deep humanity. Though she is no longer with us, I know that she will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
