Mrs. Cynthia Authia Horie

August 21, 1959 – April 3, 2025

Cynthia Authia Horie, 65, passed away on April 3, 2025. She was born in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, Jamaica, on August 21, 1959.

In pursuit of a better life, Cynthia left Jamaica and relocated to Canada in the late 70’s and eventually settling in Miami, Florida in the early 80’s, where she built a career as a retail manager for over 20 years. Known for her hardworking spirit, no-nonsense attitude, and kind heart, Cynthia touched the lives of many with her strength and resilience.

In 2013, Cynthia was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as leiomyosarcoma. She made the difficult decision to step away from work and focus on her health. With incredible determination, she fought and beat cancer three times, before it returned in late 2024.

Cynthia found joy in the simple pleasures of life — reading her Bible, tending to her garden, preparing her famous potato salad, and spending cherished time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband Kevin Horie, her two children Matthew Juarbe and Sydney Horie, as well as her siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Cynthia’s presence, warmth, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A public visitation for Cynthia will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024. A viewing will occur Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 7200 Davie Road Extension, Hollywood, FL 33024. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 7200 Davie Road Extension, Hollywood, FL 33024. A mausoleum entombment will occur Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens North., 3001 N 72nd Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024.
