

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. Starkey came to South Florida at the young age of 3 with his parents, the late James and Margarette Starkey. He graduated from Hollywood Hills High School in 1969 and soon thereafter married his wife and best friend of 43 years, Catherine M. Starkey.
Dave's career with Publix supermarkets spanned nearly 32 years where he spent much of this time as a produce manager. After retiring he opened a car restoration business, Cruzin' Motorsports with his best friend, Dennis. After that he stayed busy working at Manheim Auto Auction in Davie, following the McCoy Race Team (super late model series), NASCAR and was known for his extensive model car collection. His memberships included acceptance in 1973 to the Hollywood Masonic Lodge where he was Past Master and later a member of the West Broward Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathie Starkey, two sons, Jamie Starkey (Mirna) and Michael D. Starkey (Casey). He is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Grayson, Zejary and Hailey Starkey.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Sunday September 27th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Fred Hunter's Memorial Services, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024. Funeral and Masonic Services will commence at 4:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home's Community Center until 7:30 p.m.
