Debra had a successful career as a typesetter and proofreader for the Miami Review. She took great pride in her typing skills, boasting an impressive 92 words per minute with 100% accuracy.
Outside of her professional life, Debra had a zest for life and a range of hobbies. In the 1970s, she raced Pontiac Trans Ams alongside her first husband, Junie. She had a deep love for muscle cars, and her first car was a 1967 blue Ford Mustang. Debra also enjoyed attending classic car shows and auctions. Her love for music was evident as she would often blast songs on her laptop and sing and dance on the couch. She had a spirited personality and a great sense of humor, always making others laugh. In her younger years, Debra was involved in ballet and had a passion for attending plays and ballet performances. Later in life, she found joy in keeping up with the news, watching westerns, and spending quality time with her daughter Monica, with whom she lived. They would often watch comedies and reality TV shows together. She was proud of her daughters accomplishments and would always tell anyone who would listen all about “her girls”.
Debra will be remembered as a loving, funny, thoughtful, courageous, and spirited individual. She is survived by her daughters, Julie-Ann, Melissa, and Monica, as well as her brothers John, Mark, and Scott, and her sister Lisa. She was also a proud grandmother to Amber, Kryton, Jacob, and Noel.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date, and the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, located at 6301 Taft Street in Hollywood, Florida, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Debra J. Morris will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
