Dolores M. Walters was born of music-loving parents in Seymour, Indiana. After high school, she attended the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where she met her husband, Harold L Walters. Dr. Walters went on to become one of the worlds foremost band composers. While he was chief arranger for the U.S. Navy Band in Washington D.C., she taught piano and studied with such notables as Roberts & Hughes. While Dr. Walters was head composer for Rubank Publishers in Chicago and then Miami until his death in 1984, Dolores accompanied her musical sons, including an audition at the famed Orchestra Hall in Chicago. She was past president of the Florida Federation of Music Clubs while a member of the Music club of Hollywood. She was an active member of Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church for 41 years, where she accompanied the youth choirs and played a key role in the organ restoration. Mrs. Walters is survived by sons David and Frederick both of Ft. Lauderdale. Friends may visit, from 6-8:30pm Tuesday at Fred Hunters Hollywood Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street.
