Don Helms

Donald Eugene Helms (Don) 76, of Cooper City, FL passed away on September 13th.  Don was born in Monroe, NC on June 9th. He graduated from Monroe High School and went to college at Western Carolina. Don was married to Vickie on June 17th, they were happily married for 52 years. Don was a financial advisor for Prudential. He was dedicated to his work and God opened many doors for him. He was actively involved in church for over 50 years. He led youth ministries and adult Sunday school. For the past several years, he and Vickie held small group in their home.

Don is survived by his wife, Vickie; daughter, Nikki; son-in-law, Tim; his two grandsons, Michael and Wyatt, and granddaughter, Taylor; brother, David (Denise), sister-in-law, Wanda Helms and sister in law Terri Helms; brother-in-law, Dale Gordon (Donna); by nieces and nephews and other family and friends. 

Don is preceded in death by parents, Howard and Eloise Helms and brothers, Howard and Richard Helms. Don was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a blessing to many and his love for the Lord was always at the forefront. 

The visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21st at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL. Visitation will begin at 10:30AM and funeral service will start at 11:30AM. Mike Nichols will be officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Lakeland Cemetery in Monroe, NC.
