Donald D. Bohning, 82, of Davie, Florida passed away September 26, 2015, at Sunrise Health and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Vitas Healthcare. He was born June 25, 1933, in Harrold, South Dakota, the son of Claude and Velma Fern (Naysmith) Bohning.
Don has been a resident of south Florida since 1959. He worked as a journalist for the Miami Herald for over 30 years, retiring as the Latin America editor. Don received a Pulitzer Prize in Journalism.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry; son, Lee J. Bohning (Kathleen) of Watkins, CO; daughter, Lori A. Carr (James) of Deland, FL; grandchildren, Max and Rachael and brother, Larry L. Bohning (Marie) of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry D. Bohning and his parents.
Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Fred Hunter's University Drive Home; 2401 South University Drive in Davie. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens North.
