Doreen Turner

Doreen Elaine Turner was born in Kingston, Jamaica, WI on October 21, 1930, the first born of the union between Granville and Naomi Campbell. As was the norm in that era Doreen had a large number of siblings including Harold, Horace, Ulric, Enid, Betty, Nina, Algie, Noel, Yvonne, Barbara, David, Beverley and Sonia.

Doreen attended Convent of Mercy Academy, (Alpha) a highly acclaimed Catholic School located in Kingston where she met one of her lifelong friends Sybil Wong, who she has remained close with over these many decades.

Doreen met and married Clarence McDonnough this union was blessed with three sons Vaughn, Richard, Tony and a daughter Margaret. While this union ultimately ended in divorce, she later found true happiness and got married to the true love of her life Robert S Turner (affectionately known as Uncle Bobby). Doreen and Bobby established residency in Stromberg Villa, a home they built in the cool hills of St Andrew; where they lived for many years creating many beautiful memories. This home was a focal point for the many friends and relatives who gathered there frequently to enjoy their hospitality and Doreen's exquisite cuisine.

Employed by the Government of Jamaica for the majority of her working life Doreen rose through the ranks to head one of the divisions within the Income Tax Dept.

After retirement Doreen and Bobby migrated to the USA to be near their children, electing to reside in sunny Florida. While there she continued to pursue her passions for travelling as well as gardening (growing orchids and other exotic flowers). A voracious reader, Doreen started each day reading her Bible and devotionals. She also enjoyed doing daily crossword puzzles and keeping abreast of both local and international news. Her greatest pleasure however, was derived from time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On August 10, 2016, after a brief illness, Doreen a devout Christian, was called to be with the Lord. She is survived by five siblings, two children, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous family members and fiends.
