Dorin, also known as "Pops" to many of his family and friends, was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, to Corine Warmington and Pucibal McCalla on May 23rd, 1935. Much of Dorin's childhood was spent in west Kingston and Bella's Gate, where he grew up. He went to school at Buxton High School in Bella's Gate and graduated from Kingston Technical College. He later married Cynthia McCalla on October 19th, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois. Together with his wife Cynthia, they owned and operated the Caribbean American Baking Company in Chicago for 21 years while raising three boys Oniel, Michael, and Alfred. Dorin was an avid investor- focusing on real estate and stocks. In Chicago, he was a partner in Penguin Development Corporation, where they focused on fixing, renting, and developing properties. He enjoyed talking about business and financial literacy with his grandchildren. Many of the people in Dorin's life share the same memory of him as being a hardworking man, dedicated to his family and a perfect father figure.
