

Mr. Grant was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 4, 1922, the only son of Leslie E. and Mary (Walsh) Grant. He was raised and educated in Chicago and Michigan, graduating from Hartford High School in Hartford, Michigan in 1940. He attended Argubright College in Battle Creek, Michigan and graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a B.S. degree in Accounting, (minor in Finance and Management) in 1951. He was a member of Phi Sigma Phi fraternity.
Mr. Grant proudly volunteered for the Army during World War 2 in 1942. He served as a Radar and Radio Mechanic with the 770th AAF Base Unit in the Southern Philippines and Australia. He received a Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with a Bronze Battle Star, Philippine Lib Ribbon with a Bronze Battle Star, 2 Overseas Service Bars, 1 Service Stripe, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant in 1946, and will be buried with military honors.
He worked as an Office Manager and Accountant at Radio Cores, Inc., Walsh Construction Co, and Erwood, Inc. in the Chicago area. He also worked at Montgomery Ward in Chicago, where he met his future bride, Jacqueline Helen Schroeder. They were married in 1951.
He and his family were transferred to Hollywood, Florida, where he lived for 40 years before moving to Davie in 2002. In Florida he worked for Precision Accessories, Inc., Belford Trucking Co., Behring Corporation (Secretary/Treasurer), Caporella & Sons (Treasurer), Burnup & Sims (Senior Vice President), Big Shot Beverage Corp. (President), and National Beverage Corp. (Executive of Corporate Management).
Mr. Grant is survived by six children, Susan Grant, Jackie Belles, Edward (Paula) Grant, Jr., Jim (Diane) Grant, Matthew (Lily) Grant, and Peggy Grant. He is also survived by his 10 loving grandchildren, Tami, Christine, Jessica, Douglas, Heidi, Kari, Brian, Caitlyn, Kylie, and Samantha; 9 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Dante, Timothy, John, Chloe, Michael, Ariana, Angelina and Braylon; as well as his sister, Mary Jane Bruley, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, John Matthew in 1983, his great-granddaughter, Amanda in 2003, and by his wife, Jacqueline in January, 2013.
Visitation on Sunday, May 26 from 4:00-6:00 P.M., at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Garden Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood. A funeral mass will be held on TUESDAY, May 28 at 10:00 A.M. at Nativity Catholic Church, 5220 Johnson Street, Hollywood. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery ~ East. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
