During World War II, he flew 18 successful missions as a Gunner on the Dauntless Dive Bomber Aircraft. For his combat in the South Pacific, he received the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, Victory Medal and Air Crew Insignia – 3 Stars. Eddie was married to Mary Blardinelli on November 10, 1944 and would have celebrated his 76th Wedding Anniversary next month.
Eddie worked 25+ years for Prudential Insurance Company. He was a life-long entrepreneur - an established real estate agent, a successful vending machine mogul, and even trademarked his own “No Guts – No Glory” hats (in his 80’s) to sell over the internet. There was always another opportunity right around the corner to make a buck! He especially enjoyed family gatherings, church fellowship, and spending time traipsing through the woods in the North Georgia mountains. He traveled the world by air and sea, enjoying the high life aboard many a cruise ship with his beautiful bride Mary and extended family members.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Mary, son Greg (Sherry), daughter Patrice Risi (Richard); sister, Phyllis Stalker, niece Suzette Stalker; 5 Grandchildren: Marc (Mary) Poetsche, Michele Poetsche, Stephanie (Ken) Stevens, Jennifer (Ron) Philbrick, Dave (Tiann) Risi) 7 Great-grandchildren: (Ryan (Hailey) Vergara, Ashley Poetsche, Amanda Poetsche, Ronnie & Richie Philbrick, Bella & Olivia Risi), 3 Great-Great Grandchildren: (Miley Oliphant, Luke & Harper Vergara).
