We studied together in Tallahassee in 1980. I always found conversations with Jay were very meaningful. He was a shining example of commitment and industry. I saw him progress through the years. He had a great social conscience. When I met him in 2000 he had accomplished so much. And he still had the kindness of spirit. He had accomplished so much with utilizing his time and commitment and focus to achieve his goals. His was a practical life in many many ways. I regard him as a pillar of society. It was great to have known Jay. Hats off my friend wherever you are.

In memoriam of Eghbal Jalali: a remarkable figure whose life was a tapestry of resilience, philanthropy, community involvement, and devotion to family. Eghbal, who hailed from Iran but touched lives globally, was a civil engineer and entrepreneur whose contributions extended far beyond business. 

Generosity defined him. His philanthropic endeavors spanned from offering jobs to people in need to providing emotional support. His benevolence wasn’t confined to any one place—it was a global effort that resonated from Iran to Europe. Even in casual conversations, he encouraged others to aim for personal growth and stressed the importance of education and ethics.

Health was another pillar of his life. Despite dealing with diabetes, he became a beacon of lifestyle transformation and advocacy. His rigorous commitment to diet and exercise served as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that adversities could be overcome with informed choices.

Nature and community were near and dear to him. He had a profound love for the natural world, cultivating gardens that symbolized life’s resilience. Wherever he resided, Eghbal built community, forming close relationships with local business owners and neighbors. His engineering projects weren’t just constructions; they were contributions to collective well-being.

Family remained his guiding North Star. His bond with his wife, Parivash, and sons, Daniel and Neema, was deep and meaningful. His expansive definition of family also included extended family and friends whom he supported unconditionally.

Eghbal was a Renaissance man. He enjoyed working with his hands and was deeply involved in every aspect of his work. His ability to form lasting relationships was a skill as significant as any, adding a layer of trust that greatly contributed to his personal and professional success.

Eghbal left us, but his legacy is immortal—a man universally respected, admired, and loved. Over 300 people from diverse backgrounds and cultures attended his funeral, with prayers sent from various parts of the world. His story stands as a testament to a life not just well-lived but also well-loved. For those privileged to know him, life will never be the same.

Wow …  I remember Jay like it was yesterday… helping me close out my Commercial Blvd project while I was at FDOT Broward Ops. Jay always had a way to get things done with care and he respected those who worked with him. My condolences to the family. Rest In Peace Jay.

Jay (FDOT) was a great boss/mentor/Friend. Jay was a man that led by example...he wouldn't think twice about jumping into a trench and picking up a shovel to get a job done or just to help. No task would stand in his way. I have a genuine respect for him and I grateful to have shared a snippet of his time. He will be well missed, my sincere sympathy goes out to his Family,

I worked with Jay at the FDOT.  He was a sweet and gentle man.  He loved talking about plants and gave me some plants for our house.  He will be truly missed. May he Rest In Peace in a garden in heaven.  My prayers got out to his family.

It is with great sadness and surprise to learn about the loss of a friend of the past 4 decades, and to write about Eghbal in the past tense.  Once I heard the sad news, time paused for me to reflect on a journey of friendship I had with this extraordinary person.   I can not possibly fathom the great loss to the family he so dearly cherished.  My sincere condolences to Jalali family.
