Elena Caridad Naranjo

Elena Caridad Naranjo (“Mami”, “Abuela”, “Pita”), 88, of Davie, Florida, passed away on March 7, 2021 of natural causes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who devoted her life to her family.

Born on August 18, 1932 in La Habana, Cuba, Elena was the eldest of 5 children. She married the love of her life, Diosdado Martinez, on January 10, 1956; and they were married 29 years. Together, they had 3 children; Tony, Carlos and Jeanette.

Elena was a force to be reckoned with because no matter what life threw at her she persevered. Despite having to leave family behind when fleeing from Cuba, suffering a stroke, losing 2 children and her husband, she never let it bring her down. In fact, it only made her stronger. She truly was an inspiration to us all.

If you knew her, you knew she was always the life of the party. Elena would look for any reason to get dressed up but she especially enjoyed dancing, shopping and spending time with her family. Her smile and her laughter brought her family joy.

Elena was the matriarch of her family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings.

Children: Tony Martinez and his wife, Gaby Martinez and Jeanette Travieso and her husband, Roger Travieso.

Grandchildren: Leanette Fernandez, Katherine Caraballo, Carlos Valdes, Ariana Martinez, Tony F. Martinez, Steven Travieso, Denise Travieso and Kaitlin Travieso.

Great Grandchildren: Hannah Fernandez, Caleb Fernandez, Kayden Caraballo, Oliver Carroll, Alijah Caraballo, Storm Travieso, Amias Valdes and Meadow Laudicina.

Siblings: Pilar Bombino, Ricardo Sanchez, Juan Sanchez and Alberto Sanchez.

Elena is preceded in death by her son Carlos Martinez and her husband Diosdado Martinez.
