

Elmer, affectionately known as “Al” to his family and friends, was born on January 21, 1928, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Otto and Elsie Templin. On June 24, 1950, he married the love of his life, Theresa Casurella—lovingly known to him as Terry, at Free Methodist Church in Melrose Park, Illinois.
Al received a Testimonial of Merit in Barbering from The Moler System of Colleges and was self-employed throughout his life as a barber, apartment building owner and landlord, and grocery store owner and operator. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a barber aboard the USS Rochester in the United States Navy. His military honors include the Korean Service Medal with two stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Al was an honorable man who modeled strong Christian values as a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated business owner.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terry, and his son, Wayne.
Al is survived by Linda Tobin and family; Debbie Templin; Beverly and Bruce Hutchinson; Madeline Hammer and family; Molly Davenport and family; and Maximus Hutchinson.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Fred Hunter’s Memorial Gardens East. Military honors will be rendered by an honor guard. Arrangements are entrusted to Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home.
The family of Al Templin extends their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Sonata Delray Beach Assisted Living and Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County for their tireless care and compassion during his time of need.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation.
