Evelyn Harris

Evelyn M. Harris “Miss Evelyn” passed away peacefully on May 7,2025 at the age of 83. Born on April 5, 1942 in Cullman, Alabama to Otis & Mildred Hunter. Evelyn moved to South Florida in 1960 right after high school graduation and this has been her home since.

In 1961 she met, and married William J Harris (also of Alabama) and they were married until his passing on March 3, 1986. Together they shared one daughter Kimberly Michelle Spaide who was their pride and Joy.

Evelyn is also survived by her sister, Iva Nell Reno of Double Springs, AL, brothers Kenneth Hunter (Carolyn) of Double Springs, AL and Wayne Hunter (Jayne) of Cullman, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.

Miss Evelyn was a waitress by profession and LOVED her work. She started at the age of 12 and was still working at her time of death. She has been employed at Bagel Palace in Pembroke Pines, FL for the past 40 years where she was everybody’s friend, Mom or Grandma.

The family of Evelyn wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and staff of Memorial Regional Hospital for the excellent care she received while entrusted to them.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held May 15,2025 at Fred Hunter’s Funeral home in Hollywood Florida. Receiving will be from 9:30am-11:00 am. The service will begin at 11:00 am with a burial following at Fred Hunter’s Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
