Felicia was originally from the island of Trinidad and Tobago, born to parents Agatha and Gordon Gurley on January 11, 1958. In 1973, she moved to St. Croix, USVI with her parents and shortly thereafter moved to Brooklyn, NY. Felicia later relocated to Fort Lauderdale to pursue her higher education and graduated from Barry University with a Master’s degree in Computer Science. She enjoyed a successful career in her field, working for companies such as Carnival Cruise line, IBM and the City of Miami-Dade for many years. In more recent years, Felicia transitioned to Education, working as an Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College, Barry University and Atlantis University. For past honors, in the 80’s she was crowned Tropical Queen, in the Miami-Dade area. She also received an award/commendation from the City of Miami-Dade for her service.
Her career may have centered around Computer Science and Education, but her passion and creativity revolved around high fashion and art – haute couture, designer purses, hats, scarves, sunglasses and bright lipsticks were her thing! She also enjoyed fine dining and travel and seemed to have a fascination with Saudi Arabia. But more than even this, she loved PEOPLE! She was generous with her time and resources, and left an indelible mark on many lives. She especially loved and nurtured young people, and always encouraged her nieces and nephews to aspire to be the best. Having no children of her own, it’s no wonder that she closed out her career in education. She LOVED her students and would speak of them frequently to family and friends. They were her babies.
Felicia is preceded in death by parents Agatha and Gordon Gurley, her brother Andros Bubb, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles.
She is survived by her brother Theophilus Francis, and sisters - Ann Mitchell, Heather Straker, Jarvis Isaac, Virginia Douglas, Cynthia Gurley-Martin and Marcellina Gurley-Thomas; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren and dear friends, too numerous to mention.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home.
The family of Felicia Reynolds wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Memorial Hospital West, and her dear friends Pamela Fortune, Claudette Barnes-Greaves, Ann Marie Abrahams, Juliette Peters and Elizabeth Echavaria for their loving care and support when she needed it most. Also, the faculty, staff and students of the various Colleges/Universities, who she considered her extended family.
