

Born in Sugar Grove, Virginia on March 15, 1930, one of nine children born to Harry and Clydas (Hamm) Keesling. Raised and educated in Sugar Grove, Flora Jean graduated from Sugar Grove High School where she played basketball.
Flora met the love of her life Donald T. Almany and they married in 1950. The couple moved to South Florida in the early sixties settling near Plantation, Florida. She was a member of the Fort Lauderdale propeller club, and was active in the port Everglades association, volunteered for years supporting Seafarers House and the Port Everglades Oil Related Industries Association. She also served on the Boards of these four organizations. She was active in service for over 20 years with the North Broward Hospital District and worked for Dr. Dayton going back into the 70s. Flora and Dr Dayton were avid Miami Dolphins fans rarely missing a Home game. Prior to working with Dr. Dayton Flora worked for Dr. Brede an early specialist in occupational medicine.
Flora finished up her Career with Medwork near the port, as a customer service specialist and account representative for major clients.
Survived by her loving daughter, Jeri Carlene (Almany) Sauerwein and her husband Glenn Wootton, two grandchildren, Shannon Jean Sauerwein and Anthony Brian Almany, four surviving siblings, David, Johnnie, Martha and Barbara. She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas Craig Almany in 2001 and Donald Jeffrey Almany in 2008 and her beloved husband of 50 years, Donald T. Almany in 2000.
The family will greet friends on Monday, July 10th from 5:00 ~ 6:00 P.M. at Fred Hunters University Drive Home, 2401 South University Drive, Davie. A Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
