Long time Davie pioneer Frances M. Griffin passed away in her home, surrounded by family, on January 6th 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Edward Griffin, her sister Kathleen Apeland, and her son Frank Edward Griffin. She leaves behind her daughter Dolores Bobbing; granddaughters Rhonda KC, Heather, Ashlie, and Carly; great-grandchildren Baileigh, Hayden, Jackson, Parker, Charlotte, Ty, & Ryleigh.
Frances was born in Chicago, and moved to Davie in 1938 where she attended Fort Lauderdale High School. She was Davie's first Orange Blossom Queen in 1941, and married Carl Griffin, her one and only true love, in 1944. Together they raised two children, and she took on the role of wife and mother: nothing was more important to her than family. She enjoyed serving her community through her church and the local PTA, always supporting her children in every way possible. When she became a grandmother, her love continued to grow even stronger. Even in her last days she was still playing, reading and spending quality time with her great-grandchildren. Everyone she met throughout her life will always remember her kindness, her smile and her potato salad. She always had such pride in the part the Griffin Family played in the history of Davie. She embraced each day with love and a warm smile; maybe that's the secret to a long and happy life.
A fellowship gathering will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Fred Hunter Funeral Home 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM.
