Frances T. Payne (82), born January 18, 1933, in Amboy, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2015. She was a devoted and loving wife of Darwin (who passed away on October 18, 2015) for over 61 years, mother of two daughters and grandmother. She moved to Fort Lauderdale from Chicago, Illinois, after she graduated from high school and went to work at the Broward Bank. Originally a Board Member, in 1969, she became the Executive Director of Jack & Jill Children's Center, which was her vocation until she retired after 37 years. She was cherished by everyone who knew her and whose lives she touched in some way. While recognized for her contributions to the community, the one award she treasured the most was being honored by the Jim Moran Foundation with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Service and Child Care. She leaves behind her daughter, Ann Payne (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) and daughter and son-in-law, Mari and John Gasperino (Edgewater, Maryland), and her grandsons who were her pride and joy, Robert and Matthew Gasperino, in addition to other relatives and those who helped care for her and Darwin over the years. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 5 - 7:30 pm at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home - Davie/Cooper City, 2401 South University Drive, Davie, with a Service at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be offered by her dear friend for over 45 years, Fr. Anthony J. Mulderry, on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 731 North Ocean Boulevard, Pompano Beach, Florida. There will be a private family interment service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Jack & Jill Children's Center.
