

Frank Saverio Mainella, Jr. age 64, of Hollywood, Florida, formally of Long Island, New York, passed away on June 28, 2020. Frank was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 9, 1956. He was the son of Edith Jacques Mainella and Dr. Frank Saverio Mainella, Sr. He was educated in Brooklyn, New York at The Berkley Academy, and attended Roslyn High School in East Hills, New York, and graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He was an avid hunter, skeet-shooter, musician (accordion and guitar), and an avid motorcyclist. He was a member of the Gold Coast Gunslingers Club and was known as “Blackhand Charlie.” Frank was also an accomplished horseman and loved his cats, among them Comanche, Cheyanne, Clydesdale, and Talia who was with him right to the end lying in the bed with him, they were like his children.
Frank was Captain in the United States Air Force and served as a Navigator on the KC-135A and was based in Plattsburgh, New York. Frank was a true patriot who loved his country. Under normal circumstances he would have had a memorial service with full military honors.
Frank worked for Interval International for most of his working years (31 years) and was very close to his co-workers. His last position was as a senior software developer.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Frank and Edith Mainella, and his older brothers, Joseph A. Mainella, Sr. and Warren Mainella, a sister-in-law Barbara Ann Hughes Mainella Eves, and a nephew Michael Mainella.
He is survived by his nephew Joseph A. Mainella, Jr., Ruthie Sutton Gordian, and TeriAnn (Mainella) and Scott Hargraves, and several great-nieces and nephews, Michael and Angela Mainella, Brittany (Abel) and Ryan Corey, Jennifer Abbott, and Jacob Hargraves, close cousins who were like brothers and sister to him, Philip Avella, Joseph Avella, and Elise (Avella) and Dr. Marc Feiner. He had many close cousins, Maureen Finnegan, Dr. Jeffrey Feiner, Steven and JoAnna Feiner (Jacob), Dr. David and Courtney Feiner (Julian and Maxwell), Lauren Feiner and Alfredo Ascensio, (Oliver), Michael and Sherry Avella (Daniella and Joey) Sharon and Philip Avella, Jr (Adrian and Kaden) Melissa Avella, Douglas Avella (Camilo and Khalil) and many other loving cousins.
Frank had many close friends that were like family to him, especially John and Juliana Llarena, and Marta Maribel, longtime friends from work who took care of him like a son. The entire Vuolo Family including Dr. Raymond Vuolo, Raymond Vuolo, Jr, Chris Vuolo, Daria Vuolo Palumbo, and the other Vuolo siblings, Joanne Pacifico and John DelGuidice, Barbara Joan Lopez, Victor Gato, David Mavilla, Lillie Siane Butler “Lady Lillie O’Valley” Tucker, Karen “Velvet Sheath” Auclair, from the Gold Coast Gun Club, David Truly, his college roommate from Tulane University, and Robert Redziniak a close friend who served with him in the United States Air Force.
A celebration of Franks life will be done with immediate family members and close friends as soon as it is feasibly possible.
