

Fred Hord, 70, of Lighthouse Point, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in the comfort of his home with all his loving family surrounding him. Formerly from northern Virginia, Fred was a South Florida resident for over 40 years. The son of John Hord and Nina Knight, Fred was a graduate of Virginia Tech and held an MBA from Florida State. He was an entrepreneur and founder of HPE Automation Corp, managing this business for over 35 years. He is survived by his devoted wife Karen, his older son Brian (Megan) and baby grandson Jackson, and his younger son Eric (Mekenzie) who all reside locally and will continue to manage the family business. Additionally, he has a brother Jack Hord of Ft Walton Beach. While Fred enjoyed the challenge of his business, his passion was playing golf for fun with his family and friends. He impacted so many in his life that he will be impossible to forget. Fred's truly-genuine spirit and memory will carry on through everyone who had the opportunity to know him, and he will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064 on Sunday November 22 from 2 - 4:00 pm with service beginning at 2:30 pm.
