

George was born on September 7, 1928 to Scottish-born parents who immigrated tothe United States in the late 1800’s. He grew up in Highland Park, Michigan, a suburbof Detroit. He graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in BusinessAdministration. George met Sally during summer vacation at Houghton Lake, Michiganand they were married on September 15, 1950, beginning their lifelong adventure.
In 1952, George was drafted into the US Army. Because of his business administrationdegree, George served as a Corporal n the Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison inIndianapolis. After an honorable discharge from the Army, George joined BCACorporation of America and enjoyed a successful career in sales with moves toCleveland, Ohio, Lancaster, Pennsylvania and finally back to Farmington Hills, Michiganwhere they lived until 1970.
At the young age of 42, George was diagnosed with malignant melanoma and givenonly three months to live. It was that year that George and Sally packed up their twogirls, Beth and Laurie along with their poodle, Susie and headed south. Lovers ofwarm weather and golf, they moved to Fort Lauderdale to live out the rest of his dayson earth. But God had a different plan - with an abundance of prayer warriors, Georgewas miraculously healed and lived for another 50 years!
George went on to become a successful commercial and residential Realtor and RealEstate Broker for over 40 years. He was a member of the Scottish American Society,Lago Mar Country Club, and on the Membership Committee for First PresbyterianChurch of Fort Lauderdale, where he served as an Elder. At the age of 87, the Lordcalled George into Prison Ministry. This ministry inspired him to rededicate his life, andhe was baptized in the Atlantic Ocean on November 14, 2015. He treasured his church,his family, and his Scottish heritage. When asked what the secret was to 70 years ofmarriage, his reply was - daily happy hour with his bride.
George entered his eternal home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers. He issurvived by his wife Sally, his daughters Beth and Laurie, his grandchildren Lauren,Evan, Christopher, and Matthew, and his nephew, Alex. In lieu of flowers, donationsmay be made to First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale or Strikeforce 421, Inc. orSheridan House Family Ministries.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, December 30th at 3pm atFirst Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale (401 SE 15th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL,33301). Pre-registration will be required to attend the service.
