

George was born on December 19, 1923 in Torrington, CT to Howard and Dorothy Silvernale. He graduated from Torrington High School and worked as a mechanic at a local gas station, before enlisting in the United States Army during WWII serving The United States Corp of Engineers - 393 Division. George was in the European Theater, landing on Utah Beach Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. He was a proud World War II Veteran.
When the War was over, he married his child hood sweetheart. This romance started very young. When he was 8 years, old he met a neighborhood girl. She is quoted as saying “I’m going to marry that guy.” And marry him she did. June Madore Silvernale was the love of George’s life. They married on April 15,1950. They are now reunited. A love that will never die.
The family moved to Dania Beach, FL, and became long time Dania Beach residents. George worked at Hollywood Ford, as a mechanic & service writer then went to work for the Broward County Inspection Station as an inspector. He always had a love for cars. When Governor Graham closed the inspection stations thru the state , George was given a civil service exam and was offered to work for the Broward Sheriffs Office as a Court Deputy at the main courthouse. Which he loved every day, aways a gentleman to everyone he came in contact, especially the public, lawyers and judges.
George was so happy attending special events, such as the Honor Flight to Washington DC. For the day, he felt like he was royalty. His many achievements include being honored by Broward County Commission for his service to our country in World War II. He also received a special recognition & Honor for his service from the Miami Heat and The City Of Hollywood Historic day event for WWII Veterans. He was a long time member of the Dania Beach Lions Club and a parishioner at the Little Flower Catholic Church. He loved Mass every Sunday
He was a great story teller and loved his dogs. He was kind, gentle and welcoming to all. A true gentleman. He did have a cranky side as we all do. Above all George loved his family.
He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Dorothy Silvernale, his wife of 64 years, June Madore Silvernale and his sister, Pearl Separy.
He is survived by his children, Bill (Maureen) Silvernale, NC; Janice (Chris)Castillo, NC; Scott Silvernale, Dania Beach, FL; Jim (Marilyn) Silvernale, Hollywood,FL. Also a special son, Ron Costello (Stacey) and their daughter, Vicky. His grandchildren, Bridget Silvernale (Matt) Koenig, Katey (Adam) Parham, Jennifer Prehn (Erik) Wood, Melanie (Scott) Luten and Will Prehn. His great-grandchildren, Briana and Samantha Wood, Olivia and Elle Luten, and Callie KoenigAlso survived by Scout, the family lab.
George lived 96 years of life, love and laughter, and though we mourn we smile as we remember all the good times we shared.
