

Grace was born in Falmouth, Trelawny in Jamaica, West Indies, to Osmond Atterbury and Linette Tulloch on July 19, 1934. She attended St. Hilda’s Diocesan High Schol in Brown’s Town, Jamaica. She married Alvin (Teddy) Barnett on June 28, 1958 in Kingston, Jamaica. Prior to migrating to the United States of America in 1980, Grace worked as an LPN at Kingston Public Hospital, Nuttall Memorial Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was actively involved in her church, St Mark’s Methodist Church in Harbour View, and various community organizations.
Settling in South Florida, Grace retired from the medical field after a few years at Aventura Hospital, followed by private duty. She was an active member of Norland United Methodist Church, and later transferred to New Horizon United Methodist Church where she worked in the nursery for almost 20 years.
Grace is preceded in death by her daughter Charmaine, sisters Gloria and Dorothea, and brother Karl and sister-in-law Dorothy.
Grace is survived by her spouse, Alvin, children Erroll, Judith, Dave and Paula, grandchildren Pierre, Kristan, Shaun, Craig, Brittney, Darren, Marcus, Isaac, and Miles, great-grandchildren Teresa Judith and Shaun Jr., siblings Barbara, Charles, Peter, Andrea, Osmond and John, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, other family members, her church family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at New Horizon United Methodist Church in Southwest Ranches, Florida.
Grace’s family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to everyone who supported them through prayers, calls, texts, visits, sitting with mom, and meals.
