

Henry Franklin Brandon, age 89, is survived by his wife, Ann Hagey Brandon. Married in 1944, the couple celebrated 66 years of marriage. He is also survived by two daughters - Evelyn Brandon Kuschel and Carol Brandon McCawley (and son-in-law Dr. Daniel McCawley); three granddaughters Caroline Scalley, Mandi McCawley Allison, and Courtney McCawley Mangan; and four great-grandsons Jonah & Levi Allison and Wesley & Ryder Mangan. Henry was born in 1921 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and most recently resided in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Henry honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps, retiring a Lieutenant Colonel in 1958. His courageous service in WWII and Korea earned him many distinguished honors, making him a highly decorated pilot and serviceman. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 3 Air Medals, a Presidential Unit Citation, an Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, an American Theatre Campaign Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Korean Service Medal, and a United States Service Medal. After earning a Masters degree Henry served as a teacher, athletic coach, and principal at the junior & senior high school and college level, including serving as head tennis coach for at the University of Central Florida. A lover of recreational tennis, he spent many years on the tennis court earning two national championships and making friends. His family celebrates his many life accomplishments, bravery, and character, but most importantly the incredible husband, father, and grandfather he was.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to honor and celebrate Henrys life on Saturday, September 11, at 3:00 pm at the Tennis Club of Ft. Lauderdale Clubhouse: 600 Tennis Club Drive, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. In place of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice By The Sea: 1531 West Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. Arrangements made by Fred Hunters.
