James “Jim” Drinkwater was born March 4, 1947 in Libertyville, Illinois to Robert and Dorothy Drinkwater. He married Sharon Marie Myles on January 8, 1972, in Illinois. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army as a Flight Mechanic/Crew Chief--Serving his country from 1967-1972. Jim was awarded an Air Metal of Heroism. He continued to be a soldier every day of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post 180, where he served as an officer. He was a member of the American Legion Riders, where he was Director “Jimbo”. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3140.
He is preceded in death by his brother Dennis Drinkwater, his wife of 43 years, Sharon Drinkwater and his first-born son, Joseph James Drinkwater.
He is survived by his Children: Jennifer Kupkovich (Joseph), Steven Drinkwater (Brandi), Sisters: Anne, Ellen, & Joan. His beloved Grandchildren: Joseph & Steven, Sister-In-Law Monica, Nieces: Christine, Susie, & Christine M., Nephew: Michael.
James and Sharon Drinkwater will be laid to rest together.
Services will be held, Friday, July 28th at 2:00pm at the South Florida National Cemetery.
