He spent his childhood in Lexington on Dorsett Drive and in Cardinal Valley. His father moved the family to Fort Lauderdale in 1966, where the family home remains today.
He graduated from Northeast High School in 1974. During that year, his beautiful daughter Jamie Ann was born on December 2nd. Jim worked many different jobs during his life. He worked as a waiter, on a horse farm in Kentucky, and on a few construction sites. For 20 years, he had his own shop, where he crafted custom wall units, desks, and kitchen cabinets - all beautiful pieces made from the wood he loved to work with. When he closed his shop, he worked as a yacht finisher for Broward Marine. He took great care and pride with everything he crafted with his hands.
On February 3rd, 1990, Jim married Pam. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Johanna Adele, on July 22nd, 1993. Jim's life as a Christian began in 1986, through a series of "coincidental" meetings. At the Greenhouse Church, he gained the bedrock truths about Jesus ad His word. He loved the time he spent there, learning old truth that was so new to him. After marrying Pam, they attended Calvary Chapel for 20 years. Since 2009, he and his family have fellowshipped with their wonderful friends at Boulevard Bible Chapel.
Jim became ill in 2011, and met every challenge with courage. He was thankful for each day that was given to him. He peacefully met his Savior on December 20th, 2016.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Haddix. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Haddix, daughters Jamie and Johanna, parents Kenneth and Ruth Haddix, sisters Margaret Bishop and Melinda Haddix, and grandchildren Lila Welch, and Michael and Christopher DeFrancisco.
He has aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews from here to KY that are going to miss him greatly. He was and always will be respected and well-loved.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Camp Horizon at 7369 Sunnyside Drive Leesburg, FL 34748.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
