Hi my name is Liz. I am a clerk at the South regional courthouse in Broward. Even though I had not seen JD in a few years I remember him fondly. I enjoyed seeing him in court but most importantly I enjoyed our conversations before or after court . I just found out a little while ago about his loss and just wanted to give you my condolences  on his loss and to tell you that he will be missed. I am sure he is heaven reuniting with his beloved fur babies . RIP JD

I’m so very sorry to hear of JD’s passing. I met JD in Tennessee in the summer of 1996 and we instantly became lifelong friends because of his compassion, joy and amazing humor. He (and Charlie) gave me places to stay and many, many meals that summer. I’ll never forget his friendship and will miss him greatly.

I met JD over 20 years ago at the Hollywood Courthouse when I worked for the Court Mediation Program.  We had been speaking on the phone for a couple of years before we actually met face to face.  We became instant friends.  I retired in September 2022, and we have kept in touch.  He even wrote a lovely recommendation letter for me.  I recently reached out to him over the death of his brother.  This is a hard pill to swallow.  Rest in Power, my friend.  You will be sorely missed.

I am so sorry to hear this.   James and I litigated for years. He was ALWAYS professional, courteous and respectful. Our legal community should be more like him. He will be sorely missed.  May his memories be a blessing.

JD will forever be in my heart. His kindness and generosity was his trade mark. He loved life and he loved people.  He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was truly a good friend to me. If he knew you were dealing with an issue, he would help you resolve it. Whether it was a wise word or he dipped in his pocket and willingly give you a helping hand. Words can not describe the sadness I feel of his passing. He left a mark of love in my heart. Rest in peace my dear big brother.

I moved down to Florida to go to law school. My brother had already been to law school at St. Thomas and had friends from the school that he would play poker with occasional ally. I was invited to play on night. There was about 16 people playing  at two separate tables, tournament style. Through the process of elimination, it came down to two players going head to head. JD and I. I won the pot finally. As I was cleaning up my winnings, JD asked me if I wanted a job. I said of course. He told me to show up on Monday at the office, not to come in professions clothes, but rather causal clothes and be ready to discuss my experiences bartending. I met Russ the following Monday and answered questions about what it takes to multi task as a bartender. I was hired on the spot and I worked with JD, Russ and Chris for the  next  18 years. I always tell me, I started my career by winning a poker game.  Through the years, I spend time so much with JD in and out of the office. He would always get me gifts for simple reason that it made him think of me. JD was a wonderful confidant regarding any and all romantic or family drama. He could make everyone laugh and see joy in the world all times.  He was a spatular mediator between colleges, yet get away with saying the most inappropriate things. Further, an absolutely incredible legal mind. He was invaluable to any win who knew him and loved by all. I miss you JD and always have. You are a beautiful human. 

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we bid farewell to a truly exceptional soul.   JD touched our lives in profound ways, leaving an indelible mark of kindness, respect, and unwavering care. 
As a dedicated lawyer, he exemplified his commitment to helping others, always extending a helping hand.

Paul and I had the privilege of sharing countless moments of joy, laughter, and camaraderie with JD. Our evenings, nights, and dinners were filled with the warmth of his friendship. Together with our lovely Carlos, we navigated through the highs and lows of life, creating memories that still echo with laughter and a unique sense of craziness.
JD's presence in our lives was a blessing, and his departure leaves a void that words struggle to fill. In celebrating his life, let us cherish the joy, the laughter, and the genuine friendship he bestowed upon us. 
May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration during this difficult time.

I'm heartbroken and sadden to know that you are no longer among us.  You were the glue that brought everyone together. The many laughs we shared due to you dry jokes, or memes, your huge kind heart,  humility, and so down to earth personality kept us always looking more.  You have left a huge imprint in my heart.  You are and will be sorely missed.  Please watch over my good,  dear, and loving friend, Carlitos.  You're not to be forgotten! Although I did not know JD, I feel like I did through all the wonderful things that Carlos, my dear friend and co-worker, would share aBout him. When Carlos shared stories about JD, you could see and feel the love they shared. We should all be so lucky to experience that type of relationship. My heart broke for you when I heard the news of his passing. Keep those beautiful memories in your heart and soul to remember all the great times with him.

JD was special to me in so many ways. He and I were partners in life for several years, and we stayed in touch all of the years since that time. I love JD with all my heart and will miss his pleasant voice and wonderful smile all of the days of my life. I pray that Carlos will be assured that JD was one of a kind and a true SUPERMAN.

Carlos and to all those who knew and loved JD. JD, that is what we called him during  his years in Marion Va. We are in shock and have shed many tears. He was a dear friend and example to every one. We missed him when he left but we stayed in touch. We extend our deepest condolences to all of you, especially Carlos, whom JD loved so much. May God bless you and keep you and hold you in the Palm  of His hand.

My condolences to you and family. Wishing you the love of friends and family, strength to face each day and warm memories to forever hold on to. Angels are always near to those who are grieving. To whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hands of God. 

I hadn’t seen JD in a while but he was a dear friend of mine, we use to play tennis almost every evening for a while, afterwards we would go out to eat which defeated our purpose of the exercise; he was always a joy to be around and I will miss him in this walk of life . Rest Easy, until we meet again!
