
Born on March 15, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, Jeanne was the daughter of Harold A. and Margaret S. Goesle. She was raised and educated in Staten Island, NY.
From childhood, Jeanne loved parades and was a member of the Statts Post Drum Corps in Staten Island. Jeanne began playing the fife as a young girl and rose to the position of Drum Majorette. She later became the director of the Tottenville Drum Corps in Staten Island.
Upon graduation Jeanne worked at Dunn and Bradstreet as an artist. It was here that she met her future husband, William R. Wood. They married in 1947 and shared 42 loving years together in Eatontown until his sudden passing in 1989.
Jeanne was active in civic endeavors and was a member of the Eatontown Women's Club, chairperson of the Eatontown Historical Committee and Historical Museum and was appointed as Historian for the Borough of Eatontown. She mentored youth in reading and math in the Eatontown elementary schools. In 2005 she received the Eatontown Volunteer of the Year Award
Jeanne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Blosser; her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Debbie Wood and Steven and Tammy Wood; her grandchildren, Jamie Blosser Morris and her husband Neal, Bailey Blosser, Margaret Jeanne Wood and William Bradley Wood; her step-grandchildren, Gretchen and Kevin Parker, Whitney and Craig Delanoy, Bentley and Alice Blosser and John Karakoglou; her sister, Evelyn Hansa; nephew and niece Greg and Stephanie Hansa.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Independence Hall for the care and compassion shown to Jeanne and her family.
The family will honor and celebrate Jeanne's life in a private gathering.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 South Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale.
