

Joan was born in Asheville, NC to James G. Parker and Helen E. Shumaker Parker on July 5, 1931. She was married to Herbert J. "Jimmy" Bauch, the love of her life, who predeceased Joan in 2004. Joan began her career working for National and Pan Am Airlines and traveling the world. Jimmy and Joan owned Southeast Environmental Consulting. They loved collecting trains and setting up magical Christmas Villages, hosting gatherings in their home, bunco nights and bible studies. She loved singing and sang for the Sweet Attalines, she also performed on stage singing and acting in her younger days. She was a wonderful artist and won many awards.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Bauch, her beloved son, Kirk MacFarland, her parents, James and Helen Parker, her brothers, Robert L. Parker and James G. Parker, JR. and her sister, Billie Ray Stephens.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Marcia MacFarland and Joan MacFarland, her step children, Dan Bauch, Linda Mihya, Alexander Bauch, her granddaughters Joan Balow and Amanda So, nieces and nephews, cousins and many other beloved family members.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Fred Hunter Funeral Home Community Center located at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida. Arrangements are by Fred Hunter Funeral Home. Joan will be buried next to Jimmy at the Bethlehem Community Cemetery located in Old Fort, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of Joan to the Bethlehem Community Center, Inc., a non-profit historical cemetery, c/o Robert Smith, 656 Old Fort Sugar Hill Road, Old Fort, NC 28762.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to her caretaker, Sonya Sinclair, for the loving care she provided to Joan.
