Joe Bowers

On an early Winter morning, January 1, 2019, Joe Bowers of Pembroke Pines, Florida, loving husband, devoted father and brother, transitioned peacefully at the age of 78 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Joe was born on June 27, 1940 in Foley, FL to the late Louise Cunningham (Bowers) and attended Jerkins High School. Joe served in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged, retired from the United States Postal Service and was a long time transportation driver for several companies with The City of Pembroke Pines being his final employer. He was an avid tithe payer and was proud to be a member of the Foley Reunion each year. On March 8, 2008, he married Judith Gill.

Joe had a passion for fishing and loved to watch old Western shows and movies. He enjoyed music, traveling by car, watching the stock market, and eating his cake and ice cream. He was known for his generous spirit, his determination, and his serious, yet kind and independent attitude.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Louise Cunningham; grandmother, Emma Bowers; grandfather, Will Bowers; brothers, John Wesley Buchanan and Willie Lee Buchanan and Uncles, Albert Bowers and Ira Bowers.

He is survived by his wife Judith; his daughter, Jennifer (Miami) from his first union; daughter Lori (Miami); and daughter Crystal (Miami); his twin brother, Jerry( Maxine) , brother George (Bettye); uncle Wilber (Ethel); grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and co- workers.

Joe, we love you and we will miss you tremendously.
