

John was born in New York City on August 30,1925 to Irish parents, James Augustus Flynn and Anna Marie Igoe. He was the oldest of six, followed by Patricia, Mary, Joseph, James and Nancy.
John and Clara shared a wonderful life and marriage of 49 years until her death in 1996. They had seven children: Kathleen, John, Kevin, Patrick, William, Rose and James. There are also 14 grandchildren who lovingly refer to him as "Poppy", and six great-grandchildren.
John provided for his family driving a bus for the NYC Transit Authority. After retiring, he pursued his true entrepreneurial spirit. He operated several business over the years, including a fleet of hot dog wagons and several wholesale/retail businesses on Long Island; the House of Beer and Disco City at the Seville Hotel on Miami Beach, several parking lots in the Miami Beach area, as well as a Reggae Music Festival at Miami Marine Stadium.
John was an intellectual who loved history, politics, literature, cooking, gardening, people and most of all music. Whenever you met John, he would sing a song with your name in his beautiful tenor voice and always offer a small present carried in his coat pocket. He loved to make people smile.
