HOXIE, John A. Jack Sr., 97, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away November 18, 2009. John was predeceased by his wife, Thelma E. in 1963. Jack attended Tabor Academy in MA. and enjoyed the family summer home on Cape Cod. He was the coxswain of his skulling team and spoke of his racing days often. In Florida he was a salesman for Vaughn & Wright, Napa Auto Parts and after retiring at age 72, he drove a courtesy car for Monarch Dodge, Ft. Lauderdale. In his leisure time he loved fishing and boating and was in a bowling league until he was 88 years old. He also had trophies from his ballroom dancing competition with his partner and dearest friend, Thelma Niewoehner. He also traveled to China and other parts of the world and loved to show pictures of his travels. Survived by his sons, John Jr. (Ruth), David (Diane) and Peter Pete; his grandchildren John III, (Cyndi), Alan D. (Jackie), Marla R., David A., Brittany A., Kimberlee A. and one great grandchild Aiden D. The visitation will be from 12:30-1:30pm Saturday with a funeral service beginning at 1:30pm, all at Rio Vista Community Church, 880 S. Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale 33316. Interment at Lauderdale Memorial Park.
